Prayer

Prayer

Ephesians 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

In this verse there are six principles for prayer:

1 praying at all times
*prayer is a way to talk to God in a natural and plain way, talk to God during your day.
*it is important to have a time where you can focus on God alone.

  • this is a time that you can take all your worries, fear, stress to God even if it comes back, just keep praying.
  • we need to stand watch and keep praying, the battle is always raging. 2) all kinds of prayer
*There is not just one way of prayer
*all prayer is good as long as you make it unto God and not yourself for example Luke 18:11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
  • Prayer is not a matter of emptying the mind and enter into a state of consciousness, it is to connect with God. MAKE HOM YOUR FOCUS 3) persistent prayer=
With all supplication and all perseverance * this means to not give up, in prayer not give up.
  • Keep praying even if you feel like you don’t want to
KEEP PRAYING AND DON’T GIVE UP 4)prayer that asks
Supplication describes a prayer that that ask for something
  • Please understand that prayer is not just for asking, but don’t feel afraid or ashamed for asking, the bible teaches us “ask and you shall receive”
*there is 1 principle for asking God for things, when you ask plead the promises of God. Example Phil 1:6 He will finish the work He started, we can trust that…
  • don’t try and impose your will on God
  • pray in faith, axmccording to His will. 5) pray for others.
There is great power when we pray for other.
Paul asked for prayer…. 6) what is means to pray in the Spirit
This means to pray in truth
  • the pharasees prayed all the time, they had their prayer rituals, but they didn’t pray in truth. They didn’t pray in the right connection with God.
  • pray in faith, rely on the Holy Spirit, pray scripture, avoid machanical prayer, pray that we fill up with the Holy Spirit and keep walking with the Holy Spirit
